Between March and July of this year, my mother and brother both passed away. Most of their ashes now reside at the bottom of this lake in Alabama. Time rolls on, regardless. Love the ones you love.

Where else do you think about living? Is there a need to move? To travel? To change it up? How far would you go? And what would you do? Or is it preferable to just stay in the same place, do the same things, keep it simple, know your routines?

This lagoon shot comes from location scouting in the Dominican Republic for a pirate movie. After years of photo and note taking (for work and personal travel) and then sitting to write stories and novels, these primary and coexisting pursuits overlap and converge, and eventually coalesce into a potentially singular project.
